Artistic Statement
As a performer I desire to be a part of projects that are politically advanced and that will push towards a better social change in our society. All of this is possible through devised and original work. Many seem to believe that they are incapable of creating their own work. It is something that I think everyone should try and I place a vast amount of respect for those who have. To me it shows you can solve problems and work on a multitude of levels.
We have the power to make people notice negative behaviors, reflect, and change. I aspire to be involved in that change and hope to give audience members a story they can relate to along with providing them the chance to leave a stronger person.
Background
I was born in Chicago IL but raised in a small town in MI known as Three Rivers. I am the daughter of two amazing parents who had their own septic tank business. Looking back; it’s probably where I gained a majority of my creativity from. I was able to create obstacle courses out of the over-sized PVC piping and play on the hills of concrete rubble. I also have a brother who is fourteen years older than I am who is a nuclear engineer.
I graduated from Three Rivers High School and attended Western Michigan University for two years as a Vocal Performance Major. When I realized that singing wasn’t fulfilling my passion I shipped off to Northern Illinois University to get my BFA in Acting. While there I worked under two internships at Primary Stages and Oak Park Festival Theatre and studied for three months at MXAT in Moscow Russia. I graduated as an Honors Student and earned Summa Cum Laude. Directly out of college I was hired at Timber Lake Playhouse as a House Manager which quickly became a role that involved event planning, marketing, and acting.
I have now relocated to my birth city Chicago, and boy am I happy to be back!
